In isiZulu, the word uthando means love or affection. We chose Uthando Renovations as our name for 2 reasons:

1. LOVE: we have a passion for what we do and love making our client’s visions come to life.

2. Proudly South African: we are a renovations company who take pride in our countries rich heritage and diverse culture.

Uthando Renovations have over 15 years of experience in the renovations and construction industry. With Gerry and Dana’s combined skill sets and qualifications, Uthando Renovations offer clients a range of services and custom made products.

About Gerry

Gerry is a qualified construction manager with years of hands-on experience in the plumbing and construction industry.

Building and creating are in Gerry’s blood. His grandfather was a builder and a carpenter. Gerry is a hands-on contractor who isn’t afraid to get stuck into a job and sling cement.

Gerry isn’t only well versed in construction, he also has a love for woodwork and can be found in front of a lathe or saw creating custom tables, biltong makers or shelving on the weekends.

“I have a passion for woodwork. On the weekends, you’ll find me standing in front of the lathe with a piece of wood, shaping it and sanding it until I’m happy with what’s it’s become.”

Gerry takes this same passion and dedication with him to every job, and that’s an Uthando Renovations guarantee.

About Dana

Dana comes from an estate management background where maintenance of landscapes, buildings and on-site facility are all part of the job. Dana is also an experienced forewoman, with the skills needed to get a job done on time and within budget.

Known as a bit of an adrenaline junkie by family and friends, Dana loves hitting the motorbike track on her free weekends or spending time in her garden.

Dana’s passion for gardening and landscaping shows in her work. Her ‘green thumbs’ and eye for design have transformed Uthando Renovation’s clients’ properties into beautiful spaces.

“I love being in the garden or on the track on my off days. I take my motorbike out for a ride when I’m not creating a beautiful space for our clients or overseeing a project.”

Dana’s passion for construction, industry knowledge and green thumbs guarantees a job well done – every time.

We loved this job because
it was a challenge!

A client contracted Uthando Renovations to update and transform their bathroom. This job started with a bit of a challenge because previous contractors had used the incorrect products and tools for the bathroom renovations. We stripped it down and did it the right way.

Facelift for a flat in Durban North

We loved creating this
cozy living space!

Uthando Renovations had the job of creating a simple, fresh look for a flat in Durban North. After getting rid of the wood borer and old carpets, we laid down beautiful wood laminate flooring, made built-in cabinets and extended a wall to create better flow in the flat.

A custom made feature coffee table

We enjoyed creating a custom piece for our client!

Uthando Renovations were contacted to create a custom coffee table. We were excited to create this modern coffee table that suited our clients taste and living space!

Custom work for a local saddlery

We loved adding upgrades to this local business

A local saddlery contracted Uthando Renovations to create a custom riding helmet display case and add to their saddle display racks. We built the display cases with a soft lining to protect the riding hats and added two brand new racks to their displays.
